Current Events in Asia
SOM architecture firm has just revealed plans for a new skyscraper, Tanjong Pagar Centre, in Singapore. At 951 feet and 64 stories, this scyscraper will be the tallest in the country. The Tanjong Pagar Centre is scheduled to be completed in 2016. It will be a multi-purpose building containing offices, luxury apartments, stores, and a large event space. Rennovations are also being made to surrounding buildings and areas.
This new skyscraper is similar to other architectural feats in the ancient history of China because of the innovation and grandeur. For example, The Great Wall of China was a major architectural feat that added much splendor to China. Like the new skyscraper, the wall had many uses such as protecting the country and showing its power. Both the Great Wall of China and the Tanjong Pagar Centre are spectacular, unique structures. Nothing like the wall had ever been built in China. Nothing like the Tanjong Pagar Centre has been built in Singapore. Thus we see that there are many connections between today and the past.

Crossing the Pop Culture Universe
The Museum of Chinese History and the Smithsonian Museum of American History are similar because they both share the story of how their country came to be. The Museum of Chinese History is located in Beijing and was founded in 1949. It describes the history of China through various artifacts from the past. The Smithsonian Museum of American History is located in Washington D.C. and was established in 1957. Some exhibits display clothing, advertisements, and even food that was a part of America's history.

Takla Makan Mummies
I had an internet archaeology hunt and on it, I found a primary source from China: a picture of a Takla Makan Mummy. In order to research this amazing find, I could go to the library and find a book about the mummies. I could also search reliable websites and try to find out more about the mummy. While I read pages (electronic and those in books) I could have questions in mind I want to answer. Some such questions could be "Where did the mummies come from?" or "How were the mummies preserved?" Searching with questions gives research more drive and purpose.
Another way I could try to learn more about these mummies is by comparing them to mummies in other countries. Putting my mummies side by side with mummies from Egypt might prove very interesting and could reveal some very important information. Some things I could compare is the condition of the mummies and what they look like. Do they look similar? What does this say about the preservation methods of the mummies in question? As compare and contrast with other primary sources, it will give a clearer picture of the primary source.
